Fatima Zahra's (AS) Tasbih

This week is the blessed week of the birth of the “Leader of all the women of the worlds”, Sayyida Fatima Zahra (AS), Sayyidati Nisa al Alamin. Her birth is commemorated every year on the 20th of the Islamic month Jamadi Ath-Thani.

Unanimous amongst reciters of ahadith is the fact that the Holy Prophet (SAW) had an immense attachment to and love for Sayyida Fatima (AS) and that she was referred to by him as Umm Abiha, or the mother of her father, emphasising this love.

Therefore, anything the Holy Prophet (SAW) has prescribed for her is something we should have complete faith in and look to as a remedy, whether spiritual or physical.

The most famous of these prescriptions is what is commonly known as Tasbih al-Zahra. This tasbih was prescribed by the Holy Prophet (SAW) to Sayyida Fatima (AS) after he had witnessed that her hands were blistered from grinding grains, her muscles had become sore from carrying water and her clothes had become dirty from sweeping the floor. The Holy Prophet (SAW) had noted that she was in desperate need of some house help and instead of providing her with house help, out of his love for Sayyida Fatima (AS) he gave her the best of prescriptions instead which is “better than a helper and anything else she could have wished for in this world”.  This prescription was the Tasbih al-Zahra which is as follows and is to be recited after every prayer and before going to sleep:

34 times - Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest)
33 times - Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah)
33 times - Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah)

The next time you are in need of some support, whether physically, spiritually, or emotionally, take a couple of minutes and recite this beautiful dhikr that was gifted by the Holy Prophet (SAW) to his most precious and beloved daughter, Sayyida Fatima Zahra (AS).
